Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick appeared on CNBC this week to talk about the upcoming monster launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19. In a recent earnings report, it was confirmed that pre-orders for the game are enormously surpassing Take-Two’s expectations, but there’s an additional factor to consider.

Zelnick confirmed in this interview that “it is skewing more to the premium edition” of the game, where the Ultimate Edition is $100, $20 more than the $80 price of the base version, which is $10 more than every other AAA video game on the market short of Nintendo’s Mario Kart World. Despite player pushback about being forced into higher and higher costs for gaming (especially hardware now), GTA VI is an exception. Players have been waiting 13 years for GTA VI, and everyone knows that it’s going to be the biggest video game launch of all time. In the end, yes, over half the people pre-ordering are willing to shell out an extra $20. Well, $30, technically.

Is it worth it? The bonuses here are often cosmetic, and in the grand scheme of how much GTA VI is likely to offer, it is probably a fraction of a percent of what you will be able to find and use in the game. As a reminder, here’s what people are getting in that 25% higher-priced version:

Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order bonus) – A car, garage, ‘80s hairstyles and outfits and a weapon pattern.

Free Month of GTA+ (pre-order bonus) – This is Rockstar’s GTA Online subscription service, which is a bit of an odd offering because GTA Online is only in GTA V, and Rockstar is not even talking about a version of that online playground for GTA VI yet. Presumably the idea is to get people to stick with their subscription.

’95 Grotti Cheetah – Mid-90s sports car that appears to resemble a Ferrari. Technically not a cosmetic.

Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers – Guns from “the Vercetti Estate” where it’s a “his and hers” version of a giant revolver with an even more giant scope.

Sara’s Unisex Salon – Hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, facial hair for Jason and makeup and nails for Lucia.

Stock 305 – Exclusive streetwear clothes for both characters.

Electric Fang Tattoo – 50 specific tattoos for both characters.

One-Eyed Willie’s – Off-road mods for vehicles and more cosmetic customization.

Goodtime Gear – A specific clothing store with clothes from local TV show star Macca the Gator.

Rideout Customs – Special cosmetic car styling options.

Classic Car Collection – You can go around the map and track down classic cars and restore them for use.

I actually find this interesting, as I swear there are some new items here that were not listed in the original reveal of the Ultimate Edition. Or at the very least, they’re being presented differently. I genuinely do not remember the Illegal Goods Store at all, for one. Nor do I recall this idea of hunting around town for cars to restore. But that’s the package. A lot of cars, mainly, a couple guns and a whole bunch of cosmetics. Worth $20? Most people seem to think so.
