The last major trading card game set for 2026, Delta Reign, isn't out yet — but The Pokémon Company is already planning ahead. In addition to the already-announced Pokémon ex★ set debuting in 2027, the makers of the world's most popular TCG will greet the new year with a brand-new holiday release.
According to Poké Beach, an outlet with a strong track record for reporting TCG news, TPC will introduce the very first Valentine's Day-themed set next year. The set appears to be less like a standard release, such as the Pitch Black or Chaos Rising set, and more like a limited-time drop. Poké Beach speculates that the Valentine's Day set will be similar to what TPC has done for Trick or Trade, its Halloween set. The spooky-themed set contained 30 cards that heavily featured ghosts and dark-type Pokémon. While there were no set-exclusive cards, each card was marked with an orange Pikachu pumpkin stamp. The Valentine's set is likely to have its own unique Pikachu stamp — perhaps even a pink one.
There's not much information on the Valentine's set yet, which hasn't been formally announced by TPC. Presumably, the upcoming set will heavily feature pink, red, and psychic-type monsters (fairy-type does not exist in the TCG). The collection will probably come in small packs that are meant to be given out with Valentine's Day cards. And much like every set that TPC releases these days, it'll likely be difficult to find.
For longtime fans, more seasonal sets like this are great news. TPC hasn't released a Trick or Trade set in two years. Despite largely consisting of reprints and completely lacking art cards, sealed Booster Bundles for the Halloween set aren't cheap. Having a new seasonal set that appeals to the mainstream may also help take some demand away from the TCG's main releases.
Poké Beach reports that the Valentine's Day TCG set will release on Jan. 27, 2027. Before then, we'll get the second big drop in the Pokémon 30th Anniversary line and the release of a Rayquaza-themed set in early November 2026.
