Overwatch's new hero Doctrine was revealed Saturday at BlizzCon 2026 and pitched by Blizzard Entertainment as a vampire-inspired support hero with a high mechanical floor. The new Support-class hero also brings a new mechanic to the game, allowing him to "Infuse" his weapon and other abilities to strategically deploy a power boost during critical moments.

At BlizzCon, we got our first hands-on experience with Doctrine, and a look at the full kit of Doomfist's old ally. While Doctrine does have some complexity to his suite of abilities, he's instantly fun to play with, with elements that will appeal to offense-minded healers, Reaper players who get queued into support, and anyone with a bit of a goth streak.

First, here's Doctrine's full kit, based on the build of Overwatch playable at BlizzCon 2026:

Doctrine's weapon, Eternal Scepter, functions much like the primary weapons of Juno, Ana, and Jetpack Cat, in that it both heals allies and damages enemies with unified fire. That helps to simplify his kit somewhat, as players will be able to Infuse it to give his shots more oomph. Shrouded Momentum is basically Doctrine's version of Reaper's Wraith Form, while Invigorating Drones gives him an alternate healing option.

Doctrine's Perks offer some surprisingly conflicting choices, letting players choose which type of healing to boost at level 2, and a rare overall hit point reduction in favor of stronger Eternal Scepter healing output. With what feels like a long cooldown timer on Infuse, it will be a tough decision on which level 3 perk to go after in the heat of battle.

Doctrine is playable during a limited-time trial this weekend, and will join the Overwatch roster officially in season 5, which launches in October.
