Next ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Release Officially Hit With Massive Delay

The studio behind the viral hit Vampire Survivors recently announced an unexpected crossover: poncle is developing a Jujutsu Kaisen game. Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton was revealed this June and was initially set for a 2026 release date. Unfortunately, the game's latest trailer confirms it has been delayed to 2027, which is also when the next season of the anime is expected to be released.
Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton's Steam page describes it as “a survivors royale where you battle cursed spirits, rivals, and grow stronger throughout the match. Outscore other contestants on your way to the final showdown. Defeat enemies, build your loadout, unlock rule-changing effects, and fight to become the last player standing victorious.” The game supports eight-person online play and includes a solo mode.
The description makes it sound like a mixture of Vampire Survivors’ escalating roguelike elements with the gradual eliminations of a battle royale. Notably, the premise is quite similar to the anime’s ongoing Culling Games arc, where powerful sorcerers battle each other in a murderous tournament orchestrated by an unhinged villain. Just like in the anime, when players reach 100 points, they can introduce a new “rule” to disrupt their foes.
What does the latest trailer show off?
The latest trailer showcases several playable characters, including Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, Maki, Choso, Gojo, and Yuta, promising more than 20 fighters in total. At one point, we see various bosses, such as Jogo, Geto, and the most punchable antagonist of all, Mahito. These bad guys can appear mid-round, adding extra chaos.
We also see several characters’ unique cursed techniques, which players can activate when they fill the bar on the left side of the screen, letting them clear waves of spirits. Defeating common enemies grants experience points, which can be used to upgrade your character for the round and unlock new skills.
While Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton doesn’t make a huge impression at first glance, the fact that the studio behind Vampire Survivors is developing it means it could be another impossible-to-put-down hit. Hopefully, the delay gives poncle the time it needs to make something great.
