Electronic Arts has revealed that the battle royale shooter Apex Legends' next big crossover will bring Street Fighter 6's cast into a completely different sort of competition. The event begins next week, one month before Street Fighter hits the big screen in its new film adaptation.
As revealed in an official blog post on the Apex Legends website, the event is titled Apex Legends vs Street Fighter 6, evoking classic titles like Marvel vs. Capcom. The event will begin on Sept. 22 and run through Oct. 13. The main event of the crossover will be the Wildcard game mode that turns the battle royale into an all-out brawl. Rather than shoot at each other, players will pick from four Street Fighter characters and use melee attacks to take down enemies. Collecting coins will fill a Fighter Gauge that lets you enter Fighter Form, which unlocks more special abilities.

- Ryu: Close in with fast movement, launch Hadokens at range, then finish with a powerful Shin Shoryuken uppercut.
- Chun-Li: Wall-run into the fight with faster melee attacks, fire Kikoken projectiles, then lock down a zone with a charged Kikosho blast.
- Akuma: Launch Gou Hadoken demon fireballs from range, then close the distance and finish with a Shun Goku Satsu.
- Dhalsim: Float above the fight on low gravity, control space with Yoga Teleport, and rain fire with a Yoga Sunburst from above.
The mode will take place on a remixed version of the Olympus map, full of nods to Capcom's series. The final round will be called Showdown and will grant the remaining players an infinite Fight Gauge so that everyone can end the game on an explosive note.

Each skin costs 2,150 Apex Coins. In addition to the character skins, there will be eight weapon skins, two skydive emotes, holosprays, stickers, badges, trackers, and frames. Players will earn Zenny in every match, which can be used to unlock items. One such item will be an Epic skin for Lifeline that makes her look like Street Fighter's Li-Fen.
