Electronic Arts has revealed that the battle royale shooter Apex Legends' next big crossover will bring Street Fighter 6's cast into a completely different sort of competition. The event begins next week, one month before Street Fighter hits the big screen in its new film adaptation.

As revealed in an official blog post on the Apex Legends website, the event is titled Apex Legends vs Street Fighter 6, evoking classic titles like Marvel vs. Capcom. The event will begin on Sept. 22 and run through Oct. 13. The main event of the crossover will be the Wildcard game mode that turns the battle royale into an all-out brawl. Rather than shoot at each other, players will pick from four Street Fighter characters and use melee attacks to take down enemies. Collecting coins will fill a Fighter Gauge that lets you enter Fighter Form, which unlocks more special abilities.

The four characters in Wildcard are as follows:

The mode will take place on a remixed version of the Olympus map, full of nods to Capcom's series. The final round will be called Showdown and will grant the remaining players an infinite Fight Gauge so that everyone can end the game on an explosive note.

The event also brings eight new Iconic (the rarity tier reserved for crossovers) skins that give Apex Legends characters a Street Fighter makeover. They are:

Each skin costs 2,150 Apex Coins. In addition to the character skins, there will be eight weapon skins, two skydive emotes, holosprays, stickers, badges, trackers, and frames. Players will earn Zenny in every match, which can be used to unlock items. One such item will be an Epic skin for Lifeline that makes her look like Street Fighter's Li-Fen.
