Overview
A nod to both the past and the future, the Ferrari F80 sports a functional but outré aerodynamic style and an 1184-hp twin-turbo V-6, triple-electric-motor hybrid powertrain. Ferrari bills the F80 as a spiritual descendant of the 288 GTO and the LaFerrari, taking up the performance call with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, an active suspension, and active aerodynamic elements that contribute to its claimed 2.2-second time to 60 mph and herculean levels of grip.
Sporting a cunning 1+ passenger layout that logically prioritizes the driver, it throws a bone to the owner’s plus-one companion by way of a minimalistic passenger seat in the form of a small, easily overlooked black foam pad. But hey, when the Ferrari F1 team chips in on the development, accommodating the driver is going to be job one, and rightfully so.
Expert Tip: It’s not like the typical buyer of Ferrari's flagship F80 will be happy with anything else, but should you get shut out on a chance to buy one, you can always dry your tears with the couple of million-dollar bills you saved by going with a Ferrari 849 Testarossa.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

F80 has all-wheel drive, a boon to putting all the power to use. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic is standard, as is an active suspension system that uses four 48-volt electric motors to control damper stiffness at all four corners. During our drive of the F80 in Italy, we found its F1-evoking run to its 9000 rpm redline to be intoxicating, and we can’t wait to sample it with the newly available sport exhaust system. Particularly impressive is the fact that the F80 is stupendously capable on the racetrack while also remaining surprisingly approachable to drive on the street.

In Comparison: Aston-Martin claims its Valhalla supercar can hit 60 mph in 2.5 seconds; for the record, we think both the F80 and the Valhalla will beat their manufacturer estimates in our testing.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn't released fuel-economy estimates for the F80 and isn't likely to do so. We estimate that the F80's hybrid powertrain will deliver around 12mpg city, 18 mpg highway, and 14 mpg combined. We'll update this section if we get one for real-world testing.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: While there are two seats inside the F80's cabin. Ferrari refers to it as a 1+, meaning the passenger's seating is tighter and less accommodating. Underscoring the driver-centric design, the F80 features a bright red driver's seat, while the passenger's seat—which is not adjustable and is little more than padding affixed to the car's carbon-fiber tub—is covered in black upholstery, receding to the background in photos. The F80 is set up to be a driver's car that evokes a Formula 1 single seater, and the best seat in the house is obviously reserved for the driver.
Infotainment and Connectivity

Ferrari being Ferrari, it can be a bit cagey. Specifying SMRT on the order sheet enables “smartphone capability,” including, but not specifically stated, Bluetooth with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Likewise, checking the box for PDIS brings a 9-inch passenger screen, and doing the same for WIRE adds a wireless charging pad.
Otherwise, there's no infotainment display inside the F80's cabin, at least not in the traditional sense. A 10-inch digital gauge cluster is the primary display for most everything inside the car, and it's operated via steering wheel buttons. A secondary, smaller display on the center console exists merely for climate controls.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
You might think that a car as focused on performance as this might avoid the integration of driver-assistance features, but Ferrari has endowed the F80 with several, including automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlamps.

Ferrari's powertrain warranty is shorter than what many mainstream automakers offer, but it's competitive with other supercar makers, such as Lamborghini and McLaren. Unlike those two rivals, however, Ferrari also provides an incredible amount of complimentary maintenance.
